Little Hearts

My daughter, Alayna Nicole was born June 23, 1997. She was a healthy baby and showed no signs of any heart problems. She was a happy and loving little girl who enjoyed everything she did. She could be a little ornery but she could charm her way out if she needed to.

On May 28, 2001, Memorial Day, we went to the local pool. While playing in the pool with her brother and sister, Alayna collapsed. She was pulled out within seconds and the first thought that went through everyone's mind was that she had drowned. In was later discovered that she had Myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart muscle. It had caused an arrhythmia which no one was able to pull her out of.

We now suspect that she also had Long QT Syndrome as her sister was diagnosed with it last summer. It was devastating to our family and we will never be the same. We hold onto the memories we have and the love she brought into our lives.
