August, born 2015

In the 28th week of pregnancy, I found myself in a specialist office to hear news that would change my life. Carrying twins and knowing that Twin B (boy) has Coarctation of the Aorta was unbelievable.

Born at 35 weeks and 4 days, August was 4 lbs. 12 oz. and measuring 17 inches long. Day 1 he left his twin sister, Amira, in NICU and I was praying the separation wouldn't last long. He was admitted into Children's hospital for seven days before his surgery took place. Recovered in Cardiology for 5 weeks and was sent home on a regular bottle feed but no under arm pick-ups. He slowly quickly recovered and roughly two months later received his first stent placement.

Now, August is 1 year old, crawling and learning to stand on his two feet while chasing his twin sister and learning from his older sibling/sister Armani.
