Ethan, born 2011

My son was diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome when I was 22 weeks pregnant. A routine check up turned my life completely around.  I was told my best option would be to terminate the pregnancy, but how could I was the only thing I’d hear in my head and in my heart.

I went full term and delivered a 6lb 12oz baby boy via c-section. At a day old, he underwent his first open heart surgery and his urge to fight amazed me. He was sent home one month later.  His second surgery was at 6 months, and was sent home after a week.

Today, no one would ever be able to tell he has born with a congenital heart defect and had two open heart surgeries as he is a very active toddler! He’s my perfect little boy.
