Jack, 2011

Jack, born 2011

It has been a VERY rocky but joyous year in our household. We found out that we would be welcoming another child in October to add to our other two, our daughter Leeya and our son Drew. This was nerve racking enough but to add to this we found out that our new child not only has a heart defect but also down syndrome. We waited, hoped and prayed until our son was to be born October 11th. All seemed fine and doctors didn't even hear a murmur, so we thought we were in the clear. We decided to go in and have an ultrasound of Jacks two week old heart and our world came crashing down on us ... as they saw an "extremely" large VSD and a smaller ASD with symptoms of Tetralogy of Fallot. This all meant open heart surgery in the near future to correct my new baby's heart.

Jack’s surgery is scheduled to March 22 and will update when we’re home. Wish our little Jackie Bear a speedy recovery. Thank you!

UPDATE March 25, 2012:

Jack's surgery was a complete success!.  We are in day 4 and he is only on oxygen and tylenol when needed.  Amazing little boy . Hoping to be home on Monday.
