James, born 1994
My son was born with Tetralogy of Fallot and had had a full repair at fives months old. He remained in a coma for 21 days. He received services for speech and struggled with ADHD and dyslexia until high school. Getting help early made a huge difference. Last month, we celebrated his 18th birthday. We visit his cardiologist annually. He is my amazing, miracle man. Brilliant in math and science, he never let his condition stop him. Next year he will be off to college. I wanted to share his story to give others hope.
Story by James’ mother, Nina – New York
