Kylie, born 2009

Kylie was born January 1, 2009. During a routine ultrasound it was discovered that Kylie would be born with Tricuspid Atresia and Atrial and Ventricular Septal defects. Shortly after she was born she was taken to the NICU and later transferred to the cardiac unit at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. After being closely monitored for a week the team said she was healthy enough to go home.

At 20 days old she returned for her first of three open heart surgeries. She hit some bumps in the road and almost went in for another lifesaving surgery but recovered in a little over a month. At 6 months of age Kylie had her second surgery and did very well returning home in just 5 days! Just before her third birthday Kylie had her final surgery where she showed everyone what a fighter she was and got discharged in just under 2 weeks!

Over the next year Kylie wasn't the pink baby that we had hoped for after her final repair and she had to have another procedure to close her fenestration. Little did we know it was just what her little body needed and she adjusted very well!! Recently celebrating her 6th birthday, Kylie is keeping up with 2 brothers and loving her time with friends in school.
